heya! i have sort of the same problem. I kind of turn my toes out and grip with my calves. a way to help that is to drop your stirrups and let your legs hang. You really need to ride with MORE of your seat and LESS with your leg. By letting your legs relax you also relax into your saddle and loosen up your midsection. after that you can take back your stirrups and keep yourself as relaxed as you were, you should be able to keep your toes in a little better! :) you can also try to over exaggerate 

I think that if I drop the stirrups I will also be able to use the right muscles, don’t you think? I’ll try that! I can already hear my non-visible six-pack begging for a break.. haha! And my midsection.. My midsection deserves it’s own chapter of this blog. Hopeless! But thank you! I’ll try to work a lot without stirrups and see if it helps : D
