I don’t usually say this, but I don’t like this confession. No one should have to feel this way. I had a hard time posting this too, I didn’t know what to use for a picture, I didn’t know whether or not to post it- but as EC we respect everyone’s confession and desire to voice your feelings. But I’m really upset by this one.
So Dear Anon, or anyone who else feels this way- you’re beautiful. You are not defined by a stupid number on a stupid scale. And that number doesn’t determine the rider you are either.
I think this applies to all of us.

The more equipment, the less you show the world that you can.
Wow, I’ve never seen a cross country horse wear a dressage bridle before, let alone a bridle with three reins…Whoever drew this lacks discipline knowledge.
thats kinda the point. Its trying to say that the more equipment you have on your horse-doesnt matter if its mixed up tack-it still shows the world how much you lack in experience.Obviously you dont use a dressage bridle in cross country but its sply showing how the rider needs to have total control of his horse.
Isn’t this a dressage rider..? ahahah! Anyways, that is a really good point, right there ^^^^.
I like to think of myself as a good rider the day I can ride my horse with no equipment at all. Just me and the horse. No reins, no bridle, no saddle. That’s when I know I understand the horse fully, and have a perfect bond to it.
I agree, but I also agree with using the right equipment at the right time. (For the right situation)
Jeff’s a good example, we have been out of draw reins for a year or so, but he decided to reopen some of the arguments that originally called for the draw reins. So we restarted using them, and will probably stop again soon.
I totally agree with you :) i ride with drawreins right now myself, and even spurs to give more exact messages to my young horse. I also have been uaing bell boots on my old horse who tended to step on himself while wearing winter shoes with spikes. And in jumping I always use boots, just for safety :) so, the correct equipment for the right situation :)
But one of the reasons I posted this is because I see a tendensy in some barns, that they don’t fit their equipment properly, therefore making new problems. For example: A bit that is too big and the horse starts opening it’s mouth, and they put on a lower nosestrap. Then the horse starts lifting its head to signalize the pain, and they put on a martingale. They continue like that, and might even say it’s a problem horse. In the end the horse is more equipment than horse…
